Functions and Usage of Putters – Part 2

You may better opt for a lighter putter than that of a heavier putter because you can work on your overall tally in all the holes of a course with a lighter putter than a heavier one. Mallet putters are heavier than the steels, aluminum and bronze. Some level of precision is important for a putt than any other shot and so lighter putts will not go out of control.

But a heavier one may make you lose out on the control of the putter and might result in a last minute yip. Balance is very much important with a putter and when balanced right, the ball can reach the hole without any trouble. For those of you who lean a little more forward, you could better be using a putt with a shorter shaft and for those who are upright enough, a longer shafted putter will do.

But you have options to accommodate the number of putters you can use. You can carry well over a three to four putters and hence, one may be of 35 inches long, another of 32 inches long and a shorter one of 32 inches long. Try shorter putters if you want to feel the putters better and to be convinced of your ability to hit.

You can also nudge a slight bounce of the green to get the ball rolling properly without an abrupt stop, just inches before the holes. The bounce can be nothing more than around five degrees and this mini loft will help the rolling of the ball onto the hole.

When the shaft takes the clubhead on the heel of the putter, there is bound to be more of accuracy. This is one of the putters where the putting turns out to be as smooth as possible.

Putters possess larger grips than the drivers, wedges, woods and irons. Using the bigger size of the grips, you can apply little pressure on gripping the putters and this can help you prevent injuries and twitches and lack of control on the putters.

As with the rendering of style and charm by the putters and the position we take to address the ball on the greens, there is also a careful precision on putting than any other hitting. Many great golfers have struggled with problems like yips and bad putting. Go for the ultimate test of your concentration and do not let this small part trick you onto the wrong side. Practice may do the job for you than anything!
