An overturning cart or a rollover of the same is the very dangerous accidents of all the cart accidents. Body roll on slopes happens most of the times in the uneven golf courses. Several deaths have resulted from serious injuries which are as fatal as highway accidents.
Though this is a rare phenomenon and mere injuries are highly common, golf carts rolling over on one’s body is what that causes death and spine and trunk injuries or paraplegia or quadriplegia. The curb weight of the vehicle is the factor that causes serious injuries and sometimes death, which may be on an average of 800 pounds maximum.
We may have mentioned golf cart accidents are rare but they can happen to anybody who do not take necessary precautions nor abide by the rules of using golf carts. It is our duty to not injure ourselves as well as others simply by doing not more than abiding by the rules framed for safer driving.
Here are some of the steps through which you can save yourself from potential accidents:-
A two-seater must be a two-seater and a four-seater must be a four-seater. Never take more passengers than what the cart is meant for, which is one of the most important factors that causes accidents or body roll.
Your legs, arms, head, feet and whatever that can protrude must be kept within the chassis. Children must not be allowed to poke their hands and legs outside in the air.
Travel in a lesser speed on slopes and do not brake too hard, especially on slopes.
Let pedestrians pass by and do not collide or run over them. You may have to apply sudden brakes, if you are not driving slowly on sidewalks or walkways.
Ensure that the golf cart drivers own a proper drivers’ license.
Blind curves and sharp edges have to be negotiated with the right speed and precaution.
It is not advisable to change gears when driving on a golf cart.
Park golf carts in the parking area and not anywhere in the non-parking areas.
Take care of keys and keep them with yourself. Do not park them on slopes without the parking breaks on.
Ensure that the weather is conducive for driving golf carts. Do not drive on uncertain weather conditions which may lead you to trouble.
