Learning Golf the easy way

Of course, there is a certain discipline maintained in Golf, as while starting to play for the first time your body might tend to move in awkward manner as is the case with dancing or any other sport. The neatly maintained stance, the behavior of your legs and knees while taking a swing, the pressure applied in putting are things that are learned either by osmosis, regular practice or conscious effort at learning the nuances of good playing.

Osmosis learning may be frustrating provided it doesn’t happen in any way. Learning the nuances and trying them out might be interesting for a Golfer or any other sports man who ventures into learning and trying out new things.

Hold the Club right

As we say the very basics of learning Golf, this is the one thing that has to be the very first of techniques to be learned even before you begin taking a stance. Ensure the positions of your leading arm and forearm are right and clasp the club using your bottom hand from a straight vertical position of open palms.

Raise the near end of the club to your hip level and hold it using both hands. Like we say in body language, you neither should be submissive by letting your palm face upwards nor should you be dominant by letting the palm face downwards. Hold it with an assertive hand position.

A stance determines whether you hit the ball or not

A good stance is the one that determines whether you hit the ball or not. Stance is one that comes with discipline and knowledge on how to keep your whole body positioned towards the ball and the tee. Your stance depends on the type of shot you are going to play and whatever the shot or the club size, you must keep your legs fixed in that very length.

Though not very rigidly, you need to not lock both your knees together while taking a swing. You knees can point forward during a swing but it cannot move along with your position and the club’s position. Practice stance consciously and bear in mind to keep your feet very rigidly.

Choose the right Clubs

You may have to use different clubs for different shots. Match combinations and analyze which one goes right for which shots. Don’t be influenced by what other people use for particular shots. Longer shots may require longer clubs and usage of clubs depends upon the proximity of yourself and the hole.

Bunkers, Fairways or the Greens, you do require to hit the ball differently with different states of power, application and muscle. Choose the clubs by experience, knowledge or common sense to reduce your number of strokes.
