Different Types of Clubs
What do we use different types of Clubs for in the game of Golf? Each of the clubs is designed to throw the ball into different hemispheres and horizons. Clubs differ in shape, size, design, and purpose.
You must learn to use the right kind of clubs for any shot that you play on the course, in different places. Lower numbered clubs hit longer distances and higher numbered clubs hit shorter distances. Let us see the various types of clubs that serve you for various purposes.
Irons
Levels of difficulty are measured by the numbers. Amateurs and women most of the times opt out of irons to use woods and other hybrids. Higher numbered irons may be used to hit the balls between 100 and 200 yards. Lower numbered irons can reach the maximum distance, if hit properly. Lower the numbers as 1, 2 and 3, the trajectory is high and higher the numbers as 7 to 9, the distance is higher.
Wedges
Hits about 140 yards, with a high loft. There are different types of Wedges like the Gap Wedge, Pitching Wedge, Lob Wedge and the Sand Wedge. Wedges can land the ball straight into the Greens.
Lob Wedges give the highest elevation with an elevation of around 60-70 degrees, followed by a pitching wedge which can do around 45-50 degrees and Pitching Wedge is the long distance hitter covering a distance of 150 yards maximum. Gap Wedge follows by covering around 100 yards. Sand Wedges are used against Sand traps, bunkers and other hazards.
Drivers
Drivers are not the most conducive to be used but are the longest hitters with which we can start off from a tee. They are highly lengthy and are made of stainless steel, alloys and titanium. Amateurs find a lot of difficulty using a driver due to their extra length. They are used to tee off from the tee.
Putters
Putters have the smallest club head or face and are used to put the ball into the hole. They are flat faced and are used only to run the ball into the hole. They can flight the ball very little.
Woods
Woods are no longer made of Woods. They are made of metals such as steel and titanium. They can hit the ball to a maximum of more than 360 yards. The face is round and big and is accompanied by a bottom that is flat to take the ball as far a possible.
Lower numbers such as 1 and 2 are difficult to play with but give you the maximum distance and higher numbers make the ball travel lesser distance but give more elevation and are easy to play.
